About Royal Light Church of Deliverance

Royal Light Holy Church was started in the early 1940s in the home of Elder Freeland Granford Sumner, Sr. Elder Sumner envisioned a church where his family could worship the Lord freely in the beauty of holiness. Elder Sumner was a man of faith who believed in teaching holy principles according to the scriptures. He held services in his home until 1961 when the old Shady Grove School in Tillery, N.C.  was purchased. Elder Sumner only preached in that building for six months before he was tragically killed in a car accident. In his final message, he said he wasn't worried about dying because the Lord had shown him that the church would go on, and so it has.
